MyEnergi takes care of the problem of the shortage of microprocessors during the redesign of the range

A high-growth manufacturer has completed a major overhaul of its products to ensure its rapid expansion is not hampered by the global silicon shortage.

MyEnergi, an award-winning company behind innovative eco-smart home devices, has switched to more powerful microprocessors – unaffected by the compression that has shut down production lines in several industries.

The Grimsby company, in the process of moving to a purpose-built headquarters, had seen delivery times for some pieces of micro-generation technology exceed a year.

Dr Chris Horne, Chief Technology Officer at MyEnergi, where the Zappi Car Charger is a flagship product, said: “The global silicon shortage has caused difficulties for many sectors around the world, with increasing delays. longer for critical microchips resulting in the shutdown of automotive production, a shortage of consumer goods and massive increases in the prices of computer components, to name a few.

“As a key component of our products, we had built up inventory to make up for the shortage and cover our plans to increase production, but we knew this problem would persist for the foreseeable future. In light of this, we quickly changed our operating platform, completing the project in just three months. We are now in a strong position to meet the growing demand for our line of efficient energy control products, which continues to grow as the global push towards Net Zero Carbon grows.

The switch will also provide additional functionality over time, giving customers greater control over their home energy use.

Since its inception in 2016, MyEnergi has now shipped over 150,000 units worldwide, with a team of 140 established and overseas sales teams, aided by major support from institutional and entrepreneurial investors. This necessitated a move from Binbrook to the shores of the Energy Estuary, as the primary tenant of a brand new business park in Stallingborough.

Jordan Brompton, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, added, “We’ve been able to pull ourselves out of a tough spot, demonstrating the pace and flexibility to excel in today’s rapidly developing technology landscape.

“Thanks to the dedication of our research and development division, every product in our range has been redesigned to ensure compatibility with a new type of microchip that is more powerful and less used, making our products capable of doing even more than before. while providing a host full of additional features and benefits for the customer.
